The Polar Gift

Challenge: Create a physical sculpture for Veolia. It needs to be made from recycled materials that bring awareness to homelessness and sustainability. The piece will be placed in a park in Mayfair.

Solution: We (me and the class) created a physical life-size polar bear made from 4000 used milk bottles. The project included ideation, curating, advertising, marketing, and building. I helped build the sculpture and made a physical storybook with three others to bring awareness to homelessness. There was also a donation point next to the polar bear that would help homelessness in London. It was amazing to be part of this project, and it became very successful, with news sites writing about us.

The storybook is about a polar bear that is lost and homeless because of the melting ice caps in the north pole. He wanders the streets of London, not knowing where to go. One night a little girl gave him a gift, the gift of home. This story is meant to inspire people that a little bit of kindness goes a long way. I helped create the storyline and was in charge of the copywriting (except the text on the last page). I also made the curved text in the book.
