Colouring in Tolworth

Challenge: Create a solution to make a positive impact for Tolworth Residents.

Solution: This is a group project with four more students. We collected views and experiences of Tolworth residents to understand their needs. Tolworth is a small town outside Kingston Upon Thames. The key problems were lack of community, bad crossings, and traffic. Our solution was to create a physical barrier between the two roads to make it safer for pedestrians. We involved the primary schools to help us make the barrier purposeful and personal to the residents. We asked the children of Tolworth to draw objects that reminded them of the town. We then vectorized their drawings, and we placed them on our mock-up barrier and public areas. This was our proposed idea for Tolworth to bring more life and warmth into the concrete roads.

MAP DESIGN -01.png

We created a physical leaflet that holds a map and an invitation to a mock-up event for families and children to see their drawings vectorized.

I made the map for the leaflet. The map is based on Tolworth and includes fun places for families to go and explore. It is meant to bring awareness and inspire people to see Tolworth and its hidden beauties.
